SMART BRIDGE SUITE Version 3.1 is a bridge
structural analysis program that allows rapid analysis and load rating assessment
of prestressed and reinforced concrete bridges. The analysis options include:
- Structural Assessment based on AASHTO Standard Specifications, Seventeenth Edition
(2004)
- Structural Assessment based on the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, Fourth
Edition (2007) with the 2009 Interim.
- Structural Assessment based on Refined Finite Element Analysis.

SMART BRIDGE SUITE is the
first comprehensive Bridge Engineering program that provides Design/Analysis and
Load Rating of Reinforced Concrete, Prestressed Concrete and Steel Bridges based
on for the LFR and LRFD 2008 Interim AASHTO Specifications. In addition, the program
offers a fully customizable Finite Element analysis allowing analytical refinements
and parametric investigations. Detailed step by step analysis with all applicable
Code equations provides the engineer with high level of confidence in the results.
Along with the strong features for load rating and evaluation, SMART BRIDGE
SUITE ’s unique and user friendly interface allows complete design
and optimization in minutes with fully graphical output.
SMART BRIDGE SUITE has been
developed by our engineers over a span of ten years. The first commercial version
of the program was released in 2005 under the name SMART BRIDGE SA and was only
limited to prestressed concrete girders.
This version of the program is a significant jump from our previous software in
both the operational platform and enhanced capabilities. Therefore, the name has
been changed to SMART BRIDGE SUITE 3.1 to reflect these changes.
SMART BRIDGE SUITE 3.1 covers
both RC and PC bridges and our company is currently working on the development of
Concrete Bridge Culverts and Steel bridges. We believe that bridge software should
be capable of optimization and education and we have invested heavily to produce
a step by step analysis approach that is both educational and time saving tool during
the quality assurance process.
FEATURES
- Multiple Design
Codes and Refined Analysis: Comprehensive analysis options including:
- AASHTO Standard Specifications, Seventeenth Edition (2004)
- AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, Fourth Edition (2007) with the 2008 Interim.
- Structural Assessment based on Refined Finite Element Analysis
- Refined analysis
based on FEM: The powerful refined analysis option allows modeling
and placing a vehicle or a group of vehicles at any position along the bridge. An
influence surface is generated and accurate distribution factors are obtained within
seconds. Utilizing the refined analysis can easily enhance the load rating of deficient
bridges.
- Automatic design:
The program can generate the initial reinforcement design based on ultimate
flexural strength. The user can then improve the design starting from the initial
design
- Prestressed
and reinforced applications with continuity options: Simply supported
and continuous prestressed girder bridges, cast-in-place reinforced concrete slab
bridges are handled with speed and ease.
- Entire Bridge
in One Project File:Integrating the entire bridge in one project file
greatly reduces the amount of work required to maintain your data. Displayed complete
bridge layout allows the user easy access to any unit or span for a quick check
and optimization. An entire bridge with variable span types can be analyzed and
saved in one project file.
- Flexible customization:
The unrivalled customization options make SMART BRIDGE SUITE the clear leader
for code based bridge analysis, design, optimization and assessment.
- Easy bridge
modeling and efficiency enhancement: Intuitive graphical interface
makes bridge modeling and data verification fast and convenient with minimum effort
due to its extremely user-friendly and efficient interface. The interactive graphical
interface creates and shows simple representations of the bridge based on the data
entered. Both 2D and 3D graphical presentations are provided.

- Custom Designed
Girder Libraries: The built-in library contains all standard prestressed
girder shapes. Fully customized option to generate new girder libraries and add
customized cross-sections. All cross sectional properties are calculated and displayed.
Girders with curved lines can be easily generated and customized.
- Custom Designed
Material Libraries: Comprehensive built-in material libraries contain
all standard prestressed steel, rebars and concrete types. Fully customized option
to generate new material libraries with linear and non linear material properties.
- Custom Designed
Vehicle Libraries: comprehensive and customizable built-in vehicle
libraries. Fully customized option to generate new vehicle libraries to suite any
loading requirements.
- Variable axle
spacing: vehicles with varying axle spacing can be easily modeled and
utilized in the analysis.

- Comprehensive
bridge layout capabilities: The user friendly layout screens allow
for full customization of the bridge to include any skew angle and mixing girder
types and reinforcement in the same span. Intermediate barriers, sidewalks, diaphragms
and utility loads can be easily modeled and added with the click of a button.

- Interactive
reinforcement definition: The user friendly graphical interface allows
the generation of all prestressing details including harping and debonding strand
patterns using stress-relieved or low relaxation strands within minutes. Mixing
reinforcing bars and any strand type (partial prestressing) can be handled in the
same cross section.

- Custom plots:
The program allows user to create custom XY plots based on the analysis
results. The Excel style XY plots are fully customizable, including line types,
color, data grid, diagram title and etc.

- System analysis
approach: The entire span is analyzed in one run with unlimited loading
configurations. Users can define multiple beam cross-sections with variable reinforcement
and girder spacing in the same span. SMART BRIDGE SUITE is a complete analysis solution
and bridge evaluation tool that offers fully unparallel customized options and comprehensive
user control.

- Fully customized
bridge load rating: Generate inventory, operating and service load
rating on the touch of a button based on the AASHTO Manual for Condition Evaluation
of Bridges. The comprehensive truck libraries allow the user to input multiple trucks
of their choice or generate and apply new trucks.
- Detailed Views
of Results: View the analysis result of every individual step. Texts,
tables and charts are used to help the user understand and customize the results
before printing final report. User customized charts allows better view and check
of the results.
- User friendly
computer output reports: User defined options allow printing only what
you need from a simple summary to comprehensive reports containing all moment, shear,
stresses and load rating analysis. The load rating analysis includes strength and
service checks compared to nominal flexure and shear capacities and allowable stresses.
- Print Detailed
Step by Step Analysis: Quality assurance is a snap with the full capability
of printing a step by step analysis with appropriate code reference for and part
of the bridge. NO MORE BLACK BOX, all the analysis procedures can be printed, showing
the code equations, numbers and references. Smart Bridge Suite allows easy quality
assurance of the results.

- Create and
maintain comprehensive records in one file: The PDF format reports
allow the user to insert texts, pictures, other PDF files and custom XY plots. All
maintenance and historical information can be maintained in one file eliminating
fragmentation and possibility of missed or lost data.
- Intelligent
Hints and Instant Help: No need to look up the manual! Learning a new
software is no more intimidating. Smart Bridge Suite is extremely rich in functionality,
but incredibly easy to use.
Smart Bridge Suite 3.1 - Professional Edition
All the features of the standard version plus complete continuity analysis for Post-Tensioning
(PT) stage construction. In addition the program also covers the design/analysis
of simply supported spans made continuous through coupling of threaded steel rods
over the piers.
